Uttara University celebrates ‘Baishakhi Parbon 1432’

Uttara University has celebrated “Baishakhi Parbon 1432” with vibrant festivity and a joyful atmosphere.
Organised with the support of the Office of Students Affairs, the day-long festival featured a variety of cultural performances, traditional Bengali food, diverse stalls, and decorative elements representing the essence of rural Bengal. The celebration highlighted the richness and beauty of Bengali culture.
The event was held on Thursday in front of the university’s Annex Building on the sports ground with the participation of students, faculty members, and administrative officials, read a press release.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Eaysmin Ara Lekha inaugurated the festival, while Pro-VC Prof Gour Gobinda Goswami attended was present as the special guest.
In her speech, the VC said, “This Baishakhi celebration is not just an event but a powerful connection to our roots, an opportunity to embrace the history, traditions, and culture of Bengal.”
Students set up various stalls showcasing traditional products, including Baishakhi sweets and snacks. To portray different aspects of Bengali lifestyle, attractions like nagordola (big wheel) and bioscope were also included. The entrance was decorated to resemble a rural setting, and the campus walls were painted with artistic strokes, adding to the festive mood.
The first part of the festival began with a flash mob, followed by vibrant performances of dance, music, recitation, and drama by the students.
Organisers shared that the festival was not only about joy but also served as a confluence of unity, creativity, and heritage.
A major highlight of the day was the live performance by the band “Akash Gayen”.
The New Year celebration was graced by the presence of the University treasurer, deans of various faculties, directors, departmental chairpersons, registrar, controller of examinations, proctor, faculty members, students, staff, journalists, and members of various student clubs.
