Pinak Ranjan Sarkar
Police recovered the body of a Dhaka University student from an apartment in the capital’s Hatirpul area on Monday night.
The body of Pinak Ranjan Sarkar, 24, a master's student in the Drawing and Painting Department, was hanging from a ceiling fan with his room locked from inside, said Kalabagan Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan.
He said Pinak might have died by suicide, as the police recovered a note stating that no one was responsible for his death.
Pinak’s classmate Zahid Hasan who used to share the apartment with him, said that he had been going through emotional distress following a breakup with a classmate about a month ago.
“He was quite upset at first, but over the past few days, he seemed normal. I never imagined something like this could happen,” Zahid added.
A case of unnatural death has been filed in connection with the incident, said SI Iqbal.
The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
