The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated the processes to bring back ousted dictator Sheikh Hasina and her allegedly corrupt family members into the country to face justice, ACC Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid said Tuesday.
Hasina’s niece and British lawmaker Tulip Siddiq will also be tried in Bangladesh as she holds Bangladeshi citizenship, Hafiz Ahsan told reporters at the ACC office, Segunbagicha in the capital.
On 5 August, Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana fled the country in the face of a student-led uprising. Since then, a large number of lawsuits have been filed against the Sheikh family over allegations of crimes against humanity, extra judicial killing, abduction, widespread corruption and power abuse.
