The National Citizen Party (NCP) on Monday suspended all party affiliations of its Joint Member Secretary Gazi Salauddin Tanvir until an internal probe into his alleged corruption activities are completed.
In a notification, the party also alleged Tanvir of disobeying previous verbal warnings over breaching disciplinary conduct.
An hour later, Tanvir welcomed the NCP move for setting an example of "transparency and accountability." In a facebook post, he also said he would submit his response over the matter shortly with the "Will of the Almighty." "Conspirators" can rejoice until then, he said.
On Monday, NCP also served a show cause notice to Tanvir, asking him to submit a written clarification over his corruption allegations within seven days. Within seven days, Tanvir also has to provide a written explanation as to why he should not be permanently banned from NCP.
On 11 March, the Daily Inqilab ran a report citing allegations of Tanvir’s illegal intervention in district administrator appointment, and illegally profiting from textbook printing works.
