Prothom Alo must apologise to the nation for publishing the image of a dog in an Eid greetings cartoon on 30 March, Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman said in a facebook post on Monday.

He cited Kaler Kantho, another Bangla daily, as the source for his claims regarding the Eid cartoon.

The prominent Bangla daily has hurt Muslim religious sentiments in the past and this time did not hesitate to mock even a holy event like Eid, the Jamaat chief alleged.

The viewpoint and mindset of Prothom Alo authorities are very “disgusting,” he claimed.

Previously, on one occasion, Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman publicly asked for forgiveness by holding the hands of Baitul Mukarram Khatib for insulting Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Dr Shafiqur Rahman alleged in his facebook post.
