Gold price drops, but still above Tk1.6 lakh per bhori

Jewellers have lowered the price of gold by Tk1,038 to Tk1,62,176 per bhori (11.664 grams) amid a tariff drop on pure gold.

The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Sunday.

The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk13,904 per gram, while 21-carat gold is priced at Tk13,272 per gram, according to a press release signed by the Committee Chairman Masudur Rahman.

The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk11,376 a gram, while that of traditional gold is at Tk9,391 a gram.

New tariffs will come into effect on Sunday, the release added.

Prices of silver, however, remained unchanged.

The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional silver Tk136 a gram.
