Jewellers have lowered the price of gold by Tk1,248 to Tk1,56,624 per bhori (11.664 grams) amid a tariff drop on pure gold.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Tuesday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk13,428 per gram, while 21-carat gold is Tk12,817 per gram, according to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, the committee chairman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk10,986 a gram, while that of traditional gold is at Tk9,059 a gram.
New tariffs will come into effect on Wednesday, the release added.
Prices of silver, however, remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional silver Tk136 a gram.
