Daffodil International University (DIU) has dismissed a lecturer who warned students of double absences for skipping classes in support of the ‘Global Strike for Gaza’ movement.
University Spokesperson and Director of External Affairs, Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, confirmed the information on Monday (7 April).
Tahmina Rahman served as a lecturer in the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication at the university.

It is known that in protest against the ongoing brutal genocide and destruction carried out by occupying Israel in Palestine, and in solidarity with the global movement in support of the oppressed Palestinians, students from various universities announced a 'No Work, No School' program.
To observe this program, students of Daffodil University's Journalism Department decided not to attend classes on Monday. Upon learning of this, Lecturer Tahmina informed students in a group message that those who missed class would be given double absences. A screenshot of this conversation spread on social media.
Although Tahmina Rahman later apologized and expressed regret in a Facebook post late Sunday night, the university authorities dismissed her amid strong criticism.
