With the rush of hundreds of thousands of Eid shoppers, Bashundhara City Shopping Complex, one of the country’s largest and busiest malls, has become the go-to shopping hub for fashion aficionados. The mall’s exciting facilities, renowned stores, and convenient location have made it a favourite among shoppers.

Breaking all previous records, the number of shoppers continues to rise daily as they flock to purchase a variety of products from brand shops in the posh shopping complex ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

During a visit to Bashundhara City on Thursday, this correspondent found the mall crowded with customers late into the night. Salespersons from various brand shops, including Aarong, Ecstasy, Yellow, Cat’s Eye, Sailor, Illiyeen, Zara, Easy, Deshi Dosh, Richman, Infinity, Gentle Park, and Dorji Bari, were busy assisting shoppers.

Sales staff said that the rush of shoppers is expected to increase even further, as many people prefer to do their shopping just before the Eid day.

Tanvir Yajdani, sales manager of Ecstasy’s Bashundhara City outlet, said, “Most Eid shoppers at Bashundhara City are sophisticated and prioritise product quality over price. Our outlets are set up to cater to their tastes and preferences.”

Eid shoppers, particularly those who prefer brand shops, said they’ve grown accustomed to doing their Eid shopping at Bashundhara City due to the wide variety of brand outlets available.

“I always buy my dresses from brand shops. If I go to a non-brand shop, the prices are often inflated by five times. That’s why I prefer Bashundhara City — no other mall offers as many quality brand shops as this,” said Iqra Ahmed, a senior vice president of a private bank, while shopping at one of the outlets.

Naushad Karim, who was shopping for his five-year-old daughter Sara, said she wanted to match her Eid dress with the dress of her favourite doll. After searching several malls and markets without success, the businessman finally found the perfect match at Bashundhara City.

“I didn’t think that we would be able to find the dress. We have bought it, and the price is reasonable. Everything you want is available under one roof at Bashundhara City Shopping Complex. This is really amazing,” he said. He also expressed satisfaction with the iftar options available at the mall's food court.

Mahbuba Rahman, who had travelled from Khulna for an official trip, visited the mall to buy Eid dresses for her son and father. While talking to the Daily Sun on Thursday, she said, “I came to Dhaka to submit some official papers to our head office at Agargaon. Upon completion of my task, I came here to buy Eid dresses for my father and son. The mall’s location attracted me to visit.”

Adib Ahmed, a mobile phone shop owner, said that shoppers are flocking to Bashundhara City Shopping Complex because of its safety and security.

When asked about sales, he said, "Our sales have broken all previous records. Shoppers visit the mall throughout the day, but the crowd increases even more after iftar. We are pleased with the turnout and expect even more people to explore the mall just before Eid."
