National Citizen Party Chief Organiser (North) Sarjis Alam said on Monday that the party aims to demonstrate its work and seeks the opportunity to do so.
During the visit to different upazilas in Panchagarh, the leader of the newly formed party addressed a street rally at Bijoy Chattar in Panchagarh's Debiganj upazila, followed by visits to Boda, Tetulia, and Panchagarh Sadar throughout the afternoon.
Supporters from across the district joined Sarjis in an extensive motorcade from Saidpur Airport, starting around 11:30am.
The programme concluded with an iftar gathering at Atwari Model Pilot High School ground in Atwari upazila, his hometown.
Toll collector Babu stated that Sarjis paid a toll of Tk5,000 for a convoy of over a hundred vehicles crossing the fourth Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge over the Karatoya River, near Debiganj upazila town.
Md Asif, a microbus driver from Atwari upazila, said, "I can't give an exact number of vehicles, but it could be over 150. Each of our vehicles was charged Tk7,000."
Ahead of Sarjis Alam's arrival, Panchagarh town and nearby upazilas were blanketed with posters for the past two days.
The posters feature congratulatory messages from the people of Panchagarh, celebrating Sarjis Alam's election as the chief organiser (north) of the NCP.
