ACC sues Saima Wazed Putul in two cases

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two cases against Saima Wazed Putul, the daughter of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter to the media on Thursday.

In one of the cases, Putul was sued for securing the position of regional director at the World Health Organization's South-East Asia Regional Office through fraudulence.

Another case was filed on charges of coercing 20 banks into depositing Tk33 crore into the accounts of Shuchona Foundation, an organisation founded by Saima Wazed Putul.

On 4 March, a court in Dhaka ordered the ACC to freeze 14 bank accounts of Shuchona Foundation of Saima Wazed Putul.

The balance in the accounts was Tk48.35 crore.
