The fact-finding committee for the investigation of the attacks from 15 July to 5 August during the July movement at Dhaka University (DU) has handed over a 500-page draft report to Vice Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan on Thursday afternoon at 4:00pm at the VC's office.
The university authorities will bring forward the report in the next syndicate meeting to finalise the reports.
According to the committee, they have been able to find out the accused's estimated 25% by investigating clear video footage and eyewitness evidence.
The fact-finding committee urges the state law enforcement agencies to take forward the unfinished work of the fact-finding committee.
The committee has identified about 122 DU students as attackers. Additionally, allegations have been made against 17 university teachers. The total number of the accused persons has yet to be disclosed.
The committee stratified the name of the accused in three levels, including attackers on the general students, attackers on the female students, and attackers on the injured.
Kazi Mahfuzul Alam Supan, convener of the committee, said that the attacks were totally preplanned and the then-university authorities played no role in preventing the attacks even though they were aware of everything.
Expressing grief, he said that although the university has been a witness to 113 attacks and 57 killings after the country's independence, no justice has been served for these incidents.
Vice chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan said, "If this report can play a minimal role in establishing justice, the efforts of the fact-finding committee will be meaningful. We seek proper cooperation of the interim government and law enforcement agencies."
The fact-finding committee started working from the last week of October 2024, under the convening of Kazi Mahfuzul Haque Supan, a law professor at the university.
The other members of the fact-finding committee are Dr Mohammad Ikramul Haque, Dr Nadia Newaz Rimi, Dr Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani, Dr Nasreen Sultana, and Shegreen Amin Bhuiyan.
