Amid the nationwide strong protest against violence against children and women, law enforces on Monday claimed to have arrested a man on charges of rapping a ten-year-old girl in Baridhara area of Dhaka on Sunday.

According to the case statement, Sajal Hossain Palash, 40, entered the victim’s residence on Sunday morning, found her alone and raped her, said Naim Uddin Sujon, a sub-inspector of Gulshan Police Station.

Later, the girl disclosed the incident to her mother upon her return, after which the mother took her to the one-stop crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) this noon.

Meanwhile, an eight-year-old girl of Magura, who was raped on Wednesday, is fighting for her life during undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

Today, she was able to open her eyes and it will take at least two more days for her condition to improve, according to doctors.
