The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to increase players’ match fees across all three formats, with a strong emphasis on Test cricket. The move aims to encourage players to prioritize the longest format of the game and ensure that financial incentives align with the demands of international cricket.

Under the revised structure, the match fee for a Test match will increase from six lakh Taka to eight lakh Taka, reflecting the BCB’s commitment to promoting red-ball cricket. Test cricket has traditionally struggled to retain players' interest amid the growing popularity of shorter formats.

In limited-overs cricket, the match fee for One Day Internationals (ODIs) has been raised from three lakh Taka to four lakh Taka per match. Similarly, the match fee for T20 Internationals has increased from two lakh Taka to two lakh fifty thousand Taka.

The BCB’s decision aligns with global trends, as cricket boards worldwide strive to maintain a balance between financial rewards and the sustainability of Test cricket. With franchise leagues offering lucrative contracts, this increase in match fees may help Bangladesh retain its top players for international duties, particularly in the Test format.
