The home ministry has deployed the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in and around the capital Dhaka in a bid to strengthen law and order amid the chaotic situation nationwide.

Earlier, the government launched a special drive named Operation Devil Hunt to curb the unrest and ensure people’s overall safety and security.

The BGB forces were deployed on Monday night and are now patrolling various strategic points, including checkpoints and densely populated areas in the capital.

Apart from the BGB members, the authorities have also deployed additional police forces to cover the capital under a security blanket.

BGB Dhaka Sector Commander Colonel Nazrul Islam said the paramilitary forces will be continuing raids, following the suspicious movement of people and vehicles to curb the criminal activities.
