The timeless fairy tale of “Snow White” is once again set to cast its magic on the audience. This time, Disney’s animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which came out in 1937, is returning as a live-action movie helmed by the same studio. Starring Rachel Zegler, stepping into the role of the iconic princess and Gal Gadot taking on the mantle of the evil queen, the fantasy film is scheduled to hit the theatres on 21 March.
With just a month left until its grand release, the makers have unveiled a new captivating motion poster. The visual showcases the West Side Story actress in Snow White’s signature yellow and blue gown while Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen looms ominously with a sinister expression. Below them, the silhouettes of the seven dwarfs could be seen. As the clip played further, a pair of hands delicately held the infamous poisonous apple, highlighting that the film will be released in a month.
Disney shared the motion poster with a caption which read: “One month to go until the magic unfolds! Get ready for the enchanting tale of Snow White, coming soon to cinemas from 21st March SnowWhite Disney.”
Meanwhile, Disney also dropped a special video that features several behind-the-scenes moments from the film on 20 February. It delves into the upcoming film’s creative process, paying homage to the beloved animated fairytale. The clip opens with a nod to the past, displaying the title card of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which was based on the 1812 fairytale. Director Marc Webb sets the stage by acknowledging how the story of the animated film became the blueprint for Snow White.
Rachel, who is set to portray the titular princess, expressed her deepest admiration for the fairytale, saying, “There’s so much from this animated movie that we have taken from and used in our own… a lot of it was the design of the costumes and the designs of the set pieces." Meanwhile, the featurette also gives us a glimpse of the evil queen, portrayed by Gal. In the video, she talked about the research that went into making the costumes and also mentioned that she was really nervous on the first day of the shoot.
Speaking of Snow White, the fantasy film directed by Marc Webb and written by Great Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson also features Andrew Burnap, Martin Klebba and Ansu Kabia, among others.
