A bomb-like object wrapped in black tape was discovered again on Saturday on the premises of Carew & Company in Darshana, Chuadanga.

The police suspected it to be a cocktail bomb, sparking fear among employees. The object was found around noon.

Just two days earlier, on 13 February, another cocktail bomb wrapped in red tape was found in a bush near the club adjacent to the General Office of Carew & Company.

A six-member bomb disposal team from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Rajshahi arrived at the scene that night and safely detonated the device.

However, the investigation remains ongoing, and no suspects have been identified yet.

According to sources, a young man grazing goats in the company premises spotted the object on Saturday morning and immediately alerted security personnel. This latest discovery was made just 100-200 metres away from the previous one.

Following the report, police and a military team inspected the area, and security measures have been intensified.

Confirming the incident, officer-in-Charge of Darshana Police Station, Muhammad Shahid Titumir, stated, “It is a cocktail bomb. However, this time, it is wrapped in black tape. The Rajshahi RAB bomb disposal team has been informed.”

Two separate cases have been filed in connection with these incidents and the police are investigating the matter.

Commenting on the situation, Al Farooq Omar Sharif Galib, manager (administration) of Carew, said, “This incident has created panic among the employees.”
