Pakistan High Commission have become the new champion of the second Embassy Cup Cricket Carnival. In the final, Pakistan defeated the U.S. Embassy by 61 runs to claim the title.
The two-day cricket carnival concluded with excitement. After the tournament, Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, East Wing Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented awards to the runners-up the U.S. team and the champions Pakistan team.
A total of 14 embassies, high commissions, and international organizations participated in the tournament. The host country, Bangladesh, was represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Other participants included India, Pakistan, the U.S., Australia, the British and Malaysian High Commissions, as well as a combined team from Nordic countries—Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. Additionally, the United Nations, EENOPS, the European Union, the World Health Organization, the World Bank, and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) also took part.
The closing ceremony was attended by Swedish Embassy Consular Per Ikgren, Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan Mohammad Wasif, U.S. representative Dalton Sanros, Daily Sun Editor Rezaul Karim Lotus, The Westin Dhaka’s General Manager Stefan Masse, Bashundhara Group’s AGM A.R. Mallick Roni, Brothers Furniture’s Head of Market Sales Md. Kamal Hossain, Grameen Digital Healthcare Solutions’ Chief Technology Officer Md. Solaiman Russell, Back in Motion’s Chief Medical Consultant and MD Dr. Md. Abdullah Yusuf and T.K. Group’s Head of Brand Ibrahim Khalil.
The tournament’s hospitality partner was The Westin Dhaka, while the event was sponsored by Eastern Bank Limited, Brothers Furniture, Shamsul Arefin Real Estate, Seven Rings Cement, Ispahani Mirzapur Tea, Grameen Digital Healthcare Solution, Sukhi, Concord, and Hasan Jewelers.
