The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the day before the BPL final that Tamim Iqbal would be honored with a special memento ahead of the award ceremony for his contribution to Bangladesh cricket. After leading his team to the championship, Tamim accepted the prestigious recognition.

Tamim retired from international cricket on January 10, and this tribute from the BCB acknowledged his contributions to Bangladesh cricket.

The ceremony began with a video montage displayed on the giant screen at Mirpur Stadium, highlighting key moments from Tamim's illustrious career, including his century celebration at Lord's and his iconic one-handed batting instances.

The event then featured Tamim's long-time national teammates, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim, who were invited by the host to share their experiences alongside Bangladesh's premier batsman. After their heartfelt tributes, Tamim was presented with a commemorative plaque encased with his Test, ODI, and T20 jerseys.

Amidst the celenrations, the southpaw delivered an emotional message to cricket fans, addressing the ongoing rivalry among supporters of individual players. He expressed concern that such divisions were harming Bangladesh cricket and urged everyone to rally behind the team rather than specific individuals.

"There is no Tamimian, there is no Shakibian, there is no Mashrafian. There is only one thing, that is only Bangladesh. These things destroy the young generation! Please stop this! This is the last message I want to say," Tamim said.

"You can be fan of me, you can be fan of Shakib, you can be fan of Mashrafe but when the team plays, be the fan of Bangladesh," he added.

"Please support the young team, they will make mistake but please support them. Support your team, it is your team. Please be together," Tamim concluded.
