The Ministry of Railways has initiated legal action against individuals involved in the black market ticket trade and issued a public advisory urging citizens to avoid purchasing train tickets through social media channels.

A warning message signed by Rezwan Karim Siddique, public relations officer of the ministry, shared this information on Sunday.

The advisory mentioned that Bangladesh Railway has made arrangements for the online sale of tickets for all intercity trains via the Rail Service app.

Recently, it has been observed that certain groups, operating through accounts, pages, and groups on social media, are promoting flashy advertisements to sell train tickets through the black market. There have been numerous complaints from passengers who have been deceived through these fraudulent means.

To avoid falling victim to such scams, the Ministry of Railways is urging the public to purchase tickets either via the official Rail Service app or directly from the ticket counters at railway stations. The ministry also emphasised its commitment to preventing passenger harassment and fraud through ticket black market practices.
