The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has issued the gazette notification listing 834 martyrs of the July mass uprising.
The list contains the martyrs’ and their fathers’ names, present and permanent addresses, and medical case IDs.
On 21 December last year, the special cell on the mass uprising published the first draft list of casualties from the July mass uprising.
The draft list included information about 858 individuals who were killed and 11,551 who were injured.
The final list for the first phase of those who were martyred or injured during the historic July-August mass uprising was published on the official website, accessible at https://medical-info.dghs.gov.bd/public, on 1 January.
Over 1,000 people were killed and many were injured in attacks by law enforcers and supporters of the then-ruling Awami League during the mass uprising, which led to the ouster of Sheikh Hasina on 5 August last year.
Those who were affected during the mass uprising but were not included in the first-phase list are invited to submit their applications for consideration, along with the necessary documents, according to a Health Ministry handout.
On 6 October last year, the interim government published a preliminary list of people who were killed during the mass uprising.
The government published a draft list of 708 names on the website of the Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on 24 September 2024.
BTRC, NTMC ordered to preserve data on uprising
Meanwhile, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Thursday directed the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) to preserve all data from the July-August mass uprising in its original condition.
The three-member tribunal led by Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order following pleas from the prosecution, said ICT Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam.
The tribunal also ordered all mobile operators and internet service providers in the country to assist the ICT investigative bodies in their work, he added.
In reference to a report by daily Kalbela stating that the ICT had ordered the submission of wealth statements from 75 influential people of the last Awami League government, the chief prosecutor clarified that no such order had been issued by the tribunal.
He further explained that the tribunal had issued a suo-motu order, requiring the concerned reporter to appear before it on 20 January and provide an explanation.
