Coming from 0-1 goal behind, defending champions Bashundhara Kings bagged their fourth win in the ongoing Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 after beating 10-man Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club by 4-1 goals at the Bashundhara Kings Arena here on Friday.
The holders got an early blow as they conceded an own goal in the 3rd minute of the match courtesy of their goalkeeper Mehdi Hasan Srabon who made a blunder inside the box and failed to save a pass from defender Tutul Hossain Badsha.
Fakirerpool YMC also got a blow when their defender Tias Das got a marching order after conceding two yellow cards within 22 minutes of the first half (11th and 33rd minutes), although the hosts failed to score an equalizer against their 10-man opponents in the first half.
However, Brazilian midfielder Jonathan da Silveira Fernandes scored the equalizer in the 69th minute while forward Foysal Ahmed Fahim and Rafiqul Islam extended the margin adding each in the 72nd and 75th minutes respectively.
Forward Rakib Hossain added the fourth and final goal for the defending champions in the 83rd minute.
In the day’s other matches, Mohammedan beat Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Society by 3-1 goals at the Shaheed Bir Shreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
Midfielder Razu Ahmed Zisan, Malian forward Souleymane Diabate and Nigerian forward Sunday Chukwuemeka Emmanuel scored one each for Mohammedan in the 45+1st, 64th and 69th minutes while Ghanaian forward Samuel Boateng reduced the gap for Rahamatganj in the 83rd minute.
Brothers Union Ltd beat Dhaka Wanderers Club by 4-1 goals at the Shahid Barkat Stadium in Gazipur.
Forwards Mahbubur Rahman, Eleta Kingsley and Senegalese midfielder Cheikh Sene scored one each for Brothers in the 25th, 88th and 90+2nd minutes after Wanderers defender Md Emon opened account for their opponents netting a suicidal own goal in the 17th minute.
Midfielder Abu Sufian Yousuf Sifat scored the consolation goal for Wanderers in the 44th minute.
10-man Fortis Football Club and Police FC shared points as their match ended at a 1-1 draw at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
Fortis were reduced to 10-man while their defender SM Monjurur Rahman Manik got a straight red card in the 54th minute of the match.
Forward Morshedul Islam took the lead for Police in the 90+2nd minute while forward Pias Ahmmed Nova levelled the margin for Fotis in the 90+3rd minute.
