Bashundhara Foundation has stood beside the family of Nazmul Kazi, a martyr of July uprising, in honour of his supreme sacrifice for establishing democracy in the country.
The philanthropic arm of Bashundhara Group provided Tk3 lakh to Nazmul’s wife Mariya Sultana and their daughter Ariyana Kazi Nuzaira at a simple programme on Thursday.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho President Imdadul Haq Milan, Bashundhara Group Media Advisor Mohammad Abu Tayeb, Bashundhara Group Chairman’s Secretary Masudur Rahman Manna, and Bashundhara Foundation Chief Executive Officer Naseemul Hye were present on the occasion.
The officials assured future support to the family of Nazmul Kazi.
Nazmul, 34, a former chemical businessman, was beaten to death on 18 July when he went to the Shanirakhra area of Jatrabari in Dhaka to distribute dry foods and water among the protesting students, after noticing a Facebook post demanding foods for the anti-fascist protesters.
Mariya Sultana said that her husband devoted his life for reviving the country’s independence and Bashundhara Foundation has honoured his sacrifice.
“The support proves that the nation does not forget the sacrifices of martyrs. We get inspiration from Bashundhara Foundation. The support will help me build a bright future for my small daughter,” she said.
Naseemul Hye said that Bashundahra Foundation has been providing humanitarian support through different humanitarian programmes over the years.
“We are committed to show respect to our martyrs, who devoted their lives for the country. It’s a reflection of corporate social responsibility of the platform,” he said.
