Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) will start the conditioning camps for both men’s and women’s senior national teams on Friday.
A total of 54 players – 27 male and 27 female – from the recently concluded Victory Day Kabaddi 2024 (Men and Women), selected by a BKF’s selection panel, are expected to join their respective camps.
While asked about camps, Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) general secretary SM Newaz Sohag told this reporter, “The men’s will play test series and the women’s team will play the Asian Championship and World Cup. So we arranged this camp to form our final teams.”
BKF will send its women’s team to the upcoming Asian Championship in February in Iran and World Cup in March-April in India while the federation is planning to arrange a test series for its men’s teams, though it has yet to find any kabaddi-playing countries.
However, the men’s and women’s camps, which will start under the local coaches on Friday, will select a 15-member men's team and a 15-member women's team.
“The camps will start under the local coaches. It is just a conditioning camp. If we think we need any foreign coaches, we will definitely try to bring them,” said Sohag on Wednesday.
While asked about the sponsors to run the camp, he replied, “The federation will bear the expenses now. In the meantime, we will arrange some domestic tournaments, invite sponsors and request them to sponsor the camps.”
