BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has called an emergency meeting with the party’s Standing Committee members.

The meeting will be held at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office at 8:30pm on Monday, BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan told the media.

Tarique Rahman will preside over the meeting virtually from London, he added.

The fresh development comes as BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to leave Dhaka for London Tuesday night for advanced medical treatment.

BNP sources said the meeting will be held in view of the party chief’s medical visit.

They said the Standing Committee will focus on the party’s policy and strategy at the meeting.
