Shahjalal Islami Bank Victory Day Tennis Competition, sponsored by Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC and organised by Bangladesh Tennis Federation (BTF), began in Dhaka on Friday.

On the second day on Saturday, Kabbo Gayen beat Prem Sarker by 6-0, 6-0; Saourav Hossain Fahim beat Sami Islam by 7-5, 6-1; NH Talukder beat Junayet Rashedin by 6-2, 6-1; Abishan Raj beat Shakil Ahmed by 6-3, 6-2; Intisher Hasan beat Safwan Sami Drik by 6-0, 6-0; Tanvir Moon Tushar beat Alif Hossain by 6-0, 6-0; Azan Ibne Azim beat Rashedin Mihal by 6-3, 6-1, and Suvit Barua Joy beat Tazbid Rahman by 6-0, 6-0 in their respective first round matches of the boys’ U-18 singles category.

Mastura Arefin beat Ebey Rahim by 6-1, 6-0 in the girls’ U-14 singles category.

On Friday, Purbani Group Chairman and BTF President Abdul Hai Sarker inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.

A total of 210 tennis players from 30 clubs are taking part in the two age-level categories (boys and girls U-18 and U-14) of the competition.
