Bangladesh’s stand-in T20I skipper Liton Kumer Das said on Friday that he is ready to take captaincy for long-term basis.
Liton led the side brilliantly to guide the tourist to their memorable 3-0 T20I series win over West Indies.
“As far as captaincy is concerned, if BCB ask me to lead I am ready to do that because there is no reason to have another opinion and I am enjoying it,” Litton told reporters after the win on Friday.
“I take a lot of decision on the field from the experience that I have got playing for so long and the skill that the bowlers developed it is easier to run the show on the field,” he said.
“As a captain I never said that you give everything all I said was that they are a better side and on their day they can destroy at their home ground and so the information was like we will go and enjoy the cricket and whatever the result we will take that with a smiling face and we will try to fulfill our responsibility,” he said.
Litton, who had earlier led the side before being removed from his position, was picked to lead the side in absence of Najmul Hossain, who missed the tour due to his injury.
While Bangladesh opted to give the reign of ODIs and Test to Mehidy it was not the case in T20Is as board decided to give Litton a go in the leadership role and he excelled brilliantly marshalling his resources to help the tourist earn 3-0 series win over West Indies as they defeated the host by 80 runs.
It is understood BCB is looking for a long-term captain in the shortest format due to the form of Najmul in the T20Is, who initially wanted the board that he does not want to lead the T20I side before deciding otherwise and was contemplating not lead in any format that was over turned after BCB president Faruque Ahmed got involved in the matter and the south paw was named captain for the three-match ODIs against Afghanistan, a series where he sustained the injury that forced him.
