Today is the 6th death anniversary of the Ekushey Padak and National Film Award-winning actor, filmmaker, and writer Amjad Hossain.
To mark the day, Amjad Hossain-directed timeless film “Bhat De” will be aired on Channel i at 3:05 pm today. The film stars Alamgir, Shabana, Wasimul Bari Rajib, Anwar Hossain, Anwara and others. The 1984 film received National Film Awards in 9 categories.
Amjad Hossain’s 6th death anniv todayAmjad Hossain was born on 14 August, 1942 in Jamalpur. He started writing rhymes and poems at an early age. He also wrote short stories, children’s stories and novels.
Though he started his film career as an actor in the film “Dharapat” in 1963, later he established himself as a director and writer.
Hossain directed many acclaimed films including “Golapi Ekhon Trainey” (1978), “Sundori” (1979), “Koshai” (1980), “Jonmo Theke Jolchhi” (1982), “Dui Poysar Alta” (1982), “Bhat Dey” (1984), “Golapi Ekhon Dhakay” (2006) and “Golapi Ekhon Bilatey” (2010).
Amjad Hossain won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director twice, for the films “Golapi Ekhon Trainey” and “Bhat De”.
He also received the Ekushey Padak in 1993, the Agrani Bank Juvenile Literature Award in 1993 and 1994, and the Bangla Academy Award in 2004 for his contribution to Bengali literature.
The prominent director breathed his last on 14 December 2018.
