Gaza death toll nears 44,900 after Israel kills 40 more Palestinians

The health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza said Friday that at least 44,875 people have been killed in more than 14 months of war between Israel and Palestinian group Hamas.
The toll includes 40 deaths in the previous 24 hours, according to the ministry, which said 106,454 people have been wounded in the Gaza Strip since the war began when Hamas attacked Israel on 7 October 2023.
