Champions Trophy displayed at Bashundhara City

Dhaka city dwellers got a chance of seeing the ICC Champions Trophy as it was in displayed at the Bashundhara City Shopping Complex at Panthapath in the capital for public display on Tuesday.

The trophy was put on display from 11am and fans started gathering at the shopping complex to have a glimpse of the trophy which was there till 8pm.

“It was such an amazing occasion to see the ICC Champions Trophy in front of me,” Sajed, a class-seven student of a public school told Daily Sun as he came to enjoy the occasion along with his father.

After the display in Basundhara City Complex, the trophy will be put on display at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today for the members of the national men’s and women’s teams, current and former cricketers, officials, organisers and members of the media.

Earlier, the trophy was put on display in front of Shimanto Sommelon Kendra Urmee at the Laboni Point beach in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday after the tour was inaugurated by Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain on Tuesday.

After a hiatus since 2017, the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy is returning to the international cricket calendar with eight teams.

While Pakistan were initially designated as the host, the tournament’s future remains uncertain as Indian and Pakistani cricket officials engage in negotiations with the ICC to determine the venue and format of the event.
