Bangladesh prefers friendship with all sans dominance: Imran Saleh

BNP Joint Secretary General Imran Saleh Prince has clearly expressed his party’s stance, saying that Bangladesh believes in maintaining friendship with all, including its neighbours, but will not accept dominance.

“We freed Bangladesh from fascism. We prefer friendship with our neighbours but don’t expect dominance or lordship here,” he said while addressing a programme held at Haluaghat Municipality in Mymensingh on Saturday.

Mymensingh Uttar District unit of Jatiotabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS), a pro-BNP cultural front, organized the event marking the occasion of Haluaghat Independence Day.

Claiming that lakhs of people sacrificed their lives to uphold their dignity, he said that the change of power would occur based solely on the will of the people of Bangladesh, not according to the wishes of any other country.

Sheikh Hasina met an unceremonious fall in the face of the student-people uprising but the neighbouring India could not accept it, he said.

India has taken steps against the people of Bangladesh by providing shelter to Hasina. It is also making efforts to rehabilitate the fascist ruler, he said.

He also called on all people inspired by the spirit of the Liberation War and the July-August upsurge to remain united to thwart such conspiracies.
