The interim government has approved a proposal to officially declare Kazi Nazrul Islam as Bangladesh national poet through a gazette notification.

Though, it is accepted by all that Nazrul is Bangladesh’s national poet, there has been no document validating the fact, until now.

The decision to issue a gazette in this regard was taken at an advisory council meeting on Thursday. The Cabinet Division later issued a press release confirming the advisers’ decision in this regard.
