Services of Bangladesh mission in Agartala suspended

The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura, has suspended all visa and consular services for an indefinite period on security grounds.
The visa and consular services will remain closed for the time being, said Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain.
Besides, a notice signed by First Secretary and Head of Chancery Md Al Amin stated that the closure would take immediate effect.
The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala came under attack on Monday.
The supporters of several organisations including Hindu Sangharsh Samity went on the attack on the pretext of torturing the people of Hindu community in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs of India, in a statement, termed the incident sorrowful and said that diplomatic and consular properties should not be targeted under any circumstances.
Besides, three sub-inspectors were suspended and a deputy superintendent of police was closed and instructed to report to the police headquarters for their alleged negligence
A suo-motu case was registered with the New Capital Complex (NCC) Police Station over the incident.
Seven persons have been arrested so far for their alleged involvement in the incident, according to news of some Indian news portals.
