Television host and journalist Munni Saha has been arrested.

Confirming the matter, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Tejgaon division) Md Ruhul Kabir Khan said local people surrounded Munni Saha as they spotted her in the Karwan Bazar area Saturday evening.

Informed, the police rescued the journalist and took her to Tejgaon police station, he said, adding that she was taken to the Detective Branch office later.

Md Mobarak Hossain, officer-in-charge of the police station, said Munni Saha was arrested in a case filed for killings during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

On 6 October, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) asked banks to provide the account details of the journalist.

In a letter, the BFIU sought information on her deposits, loans, credit cards, foreign trade, money exchange, lockers, and offshore banking.
