A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official said on Friday that Towhid Hridoy will have a scan to assess the status of his groin injury on 30 November.

Towhid Hridoy’s groin injury comes as a fresh blow for Bangladesh ahead of the three-match ODI series against West Indies.

The 23-year old top-order batter sustained the injury while playing football during a practice session in Bogura.

“He (Hridoy) will undergo a scan tomorrow,” a BCB official confirmed Daily Sun on Friday.

“Without seeing the scan report we cannot comment regarding the severity of the groin injury,” he said.

Bangladesh have delayed the announcement of the ODI squad as they await the medical reports of Hridoy. "He (Hridoy) suffered a groin injury and as a result we are waiting for the medical report," a BCB official told Daily Sun.

Bangladesh are also missing the services of Mushfiqur Rahim (suffering from a fractured finger) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (diagnosed with groin complications) in the ongoing Test series due to their respective injuries. While Mushfiqur Rahim is unlikely to make it into the ODI squad, the team management is hoping for an early recovery for Najmul but are also wary of rushing him back into action early.

Bangladesh, who lost the first Test against West Indies by 201 runs, will play the second Test from 30 November. The three ODIs will be played in St Kitts on 8, 10 and 12 December, followed by three T20Is in St Vincent on 15, 17 and 19 December.
