Grameenphone, in partnership with Plan International Bangladesh (PIB) and Telenor, highlighted the transformative power of digital inclusion during a learning and sharing session held at the GP House in Dhaka on Thursday.

The session focused on the "Safe Digital Space for Girls and Youth (SDSGY)" project, which aims to create a safer, more empowering digital future, reports a press release.

The Digital Inclusion initiative has made a significant impact, empowering 2.9 million individuals across eight marginalized communities, with a particular emphasis on uplifting women.

The project focuses on providing digital skills and promoting online safety, ensuring participants can confidently and securely navigate the digital world.

Tanveer Mohammad, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Grameenphone, delivered the welcome address.

Anjum Rasna Hasan, Project Lead at Grameenphone, and Khurshid Ara, Project Lead at PIB, presented a keynote paper outlining the project's progress and impact.

The event featured two sessions moderated by Kabita Bose, Country Director of Plan International Bangladesh, and Yasir Azman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Grameenphone.

Kazi Moklesur Rahman, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, attended as a special guest, along with project beneficiaries, partners, and other distinguished guests.

Kabita Bose emphasised, “Digital skills are crucial for empowering young people, especially girls, to succeed in today’s world. This project not only provides access but also equips individuals with the knowledge and resources to navigate the digital space safely and effectively.”

Yasir Azman, CEO of Grameenphone, added, “Grameenphone is dedicated to building a digitally inclusive Bangladesh. This initiative bridges gaps in digital literacy, promotes online safety, and opens new opportunities for marginalised groups, particularly women and youth.”
