BNP Joint Secretary General Imran Saleh Prince has alleged that certain political parties are engaging in politics with atheism under the guise of secularism, while others are leveraging political Islam in the name of religion-based politics.
The BNP, he said, seeks to uphold religious values, freedom, and culture with trust and faith in Almighty Allah. The party advocates for the Muslim community to adhere to the teachings of Islam as practised by the Prophet Muhammad, rather than engaging in political Islam.
Prince made these remarks on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at an Islamic conference held at Dhara Mia Bari in Haluaghat, Mymensingh.
He emphasised that Islam is a religion of peace, asserting that political discord, unrest, and disunity in the name of Islam are unwelcome. He further warned that one group is conspiring against Islam while another is fostering negative perceptions of the religion, which is also impacting Bangladesh. Criticising the Awami League (AL), Prince accused the party of inconsistency in its approach to Islam, claiming it alternates between using Islam for political purposes and opposing it for its own survival.
