Former Dhaka University professor Dr Zarina Zaman passes away

Dr Zarina Zaman, former professor of Department of Zoology, University of Dhaka, died of cardiac arrest in Michigan of the United States on September 17. She was 78.

 

Dr Zarina was a Member of the Public Service Commission during 1990-1999. She retired from her teaching profession in 2003, UNB reports.

 

She obtained a Bachelor’s and a MSc. Degree in Zoology at the University of Dhaka in 1958 and1959 respectively and joined the same department for her excellent result.

 

Dr Zaman also did advanced studies at East West Center, obtained an MS degree from the University of Hawaii in 1963 and studied at the University of Texas. She obtained PhD from UniversitiSains Malaysia in 1985.

 

Her namaze-janaja was held after the Jumma prayers at the Canton Mosque in Michigan and was laid to rest at the Islamic Memorial Gardens in Westland, Michigan, USA.

 

Dr Zaman left behind two sons and one daughter, six grandchildren, and a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers to mourn her death.
