Bangladesh will face hosts Bahrain in their campaign opener of the 2024 Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Zone Group V on Wednesday in Isa Town.
The Asia/Oceania Zone is the unique zone within Group 5 of the regional Davis Cup competition in 2024.
The five-member Bangladesh team, split into two phases, reached Bahrain, a Bangladesh Tennis Federation (BTF) official told the Daily Sun Tuesday.
“The players reached Bahrain yesterday [Monday] around 11pm and the captain reached today [Tuesday] around 10am. Bangladesh will face Bahrain in their first game,” he added.
Apart from Bangladesh and hosts Bahrain, 13 other nations from Asia and Oceania regions – Bhutan, Brunei, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Mongolia, Yemen, Nepal, Tajikistan, Guam, Turkmenistan, Northern Mariana Island, and Philippines – will compete in the meet.
Bangladesh last year played in the same event held in the same country. However, the team will leave Dhaka on 18 November. The details were disclosed in a press conference on the BTF premises on Monday.
The BTF earlier announced the team last week.
