The Rangpur Riders kicked off their training for the upcoming Global Super League (GSL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday, revealing a new practice jersey in shades of red and green as a tribute to Bangladesh.
Traditionally associated with blue kits, the Riders opted for this bold change to symbolize the national spirit.
“We usually wear blue jerseys for Rangpur Riders, but representing Bangladesh inspired us to have practice kits that reflect the national flag,” said Shaninan Taneem, team director of Rangpur Riders.
He added, “Bangladesh is undergoing a transformation, and we wanted to honour that shift. With the flag’s colors and other national elements, we aim to show that Rangpur Riders represents not just a region but the whole nation.”
“This jersey is dedicated to Bangladesh. If it can garner support for Rangpur from across the country, it will be a significant achievement for us,” Taneem said.
The team's embrace of red and green aims to rally fans nationwide and embody the evolving spirit of Bangladesh.
The five-team GSL will include CPL champions Guyana Amazon Warriors, Lahore Qalandars (PSL), Hampshire Hawks (T20 Blast), and Australia’s Victoria state team, alongside the Rangpur Riders of the BPL.
Rangpur Riders are set to face Hampshire Hawks in their first match on November 28, followed by games against Victoria, Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Lahore Qalandars on December 1, 5, and 6, respectively.
