Sirajul Islam Molla, former lawmaker of Narsingdi-3 constituency, was arrested in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area on Monday evening.

Police sources said local students initially detained Sirajul and notified the army, who subsequently took him into custody.

Upon being informed, police took him to Mohammadpur Police Station.

Sirajul Islam faces two cases filed against him at Araihazar and Fatullah police stations in Narayanganj.

Fatullah police have been informed that the former MP will be handed over to their custody.
