A total of 191 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed nationwide, including in the capital, to control the law and order situation.
Sources at the BGB Headquarters confirmed the matter on Sunday morning.
On Saturday, the Awami League announced a programme at Zero Point, Gulistan in the capital at 3:00 PM on Sunday. The party declared on its verified Facebook page: "Join us in Dhaka in masses to protect independence, sovereignty, democracy, and establish justice."
This was Awami League's first call for such a programme since 5 August.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement declared its intention to resist the Awami League's programme. Under the banner of the Anti-Fascism Resistance Platform, they announced a public gathering at 12:00 pm at Zero Point, Gulistan, titled “A Mass Gathering for Justice Against the Fallen Autocratic Awami League.”
