UK medical team reaches Dhaka to treat injured students

An emergency medical team of the UK arrived in Bangladesh on Tuesday to accelerate the treatment facilities of the students who sustained injuries during the recent oust government movement on the quota issue.

The team is equipped with a specialised orthopedic surgeon, a physiotherapist and rehabilitation expert and a clinical coordinator.

They already inquired about the health condition of 65 students now undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).

Alongside, they also discussed many issues with the Bangladeshi doctors and expressed their satisfaction over the ongoing treatment process.   

Dr Kazi Shamim Uzzaman, director of the NITOR, said that the visiting team would be given a report on 14 to 15 injured students by Wednesday.     

And then, the visiting team will undertake their necessary measures relating to surgery based on the report, he said.   

The medical team sent by the UK government will stay in Dhaka till 18 November to accelerate the treatment, he said.
