Bashundhara Shuvosangho has conducted a campaign to create awareness about the harmful effects of plastic on the environment in Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh.

The campaign, held at Tarakanda Bohumukhi High School, also encouraged students to use bags made of cloth or jute as an alternative to plastic.

Kamrun Nahar, a senior teacher at the school, said polythene bags take hundreds of years to decompose, causing environmental pollution and destroying the balance of nature.

Tarakanda upazila unit Shuvosangho President Abu Sayem Akand said, “We all should avoid using plastic, instead use eco-friendly and reusable products.”

The organisation’s Tarakanda unit members Arshi, Shihab, Adnan, Mim, Ratna, and Towfik were present, among others.
