The recently resigned coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement of Jahangirnagar University (JU) chapter have formed a new anti-fascist platform titled "Mass Uprising Protection Movement."
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the university's student-teacher centre on Monday afternoon.
A four-member convening committee was also formed, consisting of Abdur Rashid Jitu from the Department of Comparative Literature and Culture as convener, Imran Shahriar from the Marketing Department as spokesman, Fahmida Faiza as member secretary, and Rudro Mohammad Shafiullah as joint convener.
In a written statement, Imran Shahriar said, "After a bloody movement, we gained our desired second independence. During the mass rebellion, the people were awakened to the vision of a new Bangladesh, one free of fascist power, discrimination, and persecution.’
“In this near future, ordinary people would have access to justice and security for their livelihoods, and universities would function as safe and appropriate locations for higher education," he added.
