3 remanded over mugging at Tantibazar

A court in Dhaka on Sunday placed three people on a one-day remand each in a case filed over mugging near a puja mandap at Tantibazar in Old Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mosharrof Hossain passed the order after the police produced the accused — Akash, 23, Ridoy, 23, and Jibon, 19 — before the court.

Kotwali police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shibbir Ahmed, also the investigating officer of the case, sought a three-day remand each for proper investigation into the lawsuit.

After the hearing, the court remanded them for one day.

On 11 October, a group of youths snatched a chain from a woman near a puja mandap at Tantibazar.

Later, the police apprehended three people in connection with the incident.

On 12 October, Kotwali police SI Md Rushad Hasan filed the case as the plaintiff.
