Bashundhara Shuvosangho planted different species of trees at Shafipur Model School in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur on Wednesday, in memory of those martyred during the July-August mass uprising against autocratic Awami League regime.

Niranjan Chandra Das, general secretary of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Kaliakoir upazila unit, prayed for the eternal peace of the martyrs, and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured during the July-August student-led anti-fascist movement.

“We now have a new country, thanks to the July-August movement,” he said, adding Wednesday’s tree plantation campaign was dedicated to those martyred and injured in the movement.

Among others present at the tree plantation initiative were: Sadia Samad Dipti, vice-president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Kaliakoir upazila unit; Omar Chowdhury, organisational secretary of the same unit; Mehedi Hasan Shikder, assistant organisational secretary; Abdullah Al Mamun, ICT affairs secretary as well as executive body members Shankim Sarkar, Sharifullah Raz and Nobel Islam.
