Criminals have kidnapped a youth from Narayanganj and demanded Tk600,000 as ransom from his family after sending his photos bearing injury marks.

The criminals have threatened the family that they will kill the victim unless their illegal demand is met.

The victim is Mohammad Emon, 28, son of Ali Mohammad Bhuiyan and Farida Begum of Kandapara in Siddhirganj of the district.

Emon went missing from the Kandapara area on 24 September night, stated a general diary (GD) lodged by the victim’s mother Farida Begum with Siddhirganj Police Station on 26 September.

The family tried their best to find out his whereabouts, but failed, according to the GD.

On Saturday, the kidnappers through the mobile of Emon sent some of his photos bearing injury marks to his family, said the family members.

With the photos, a message was also sent. The message reads: “Emon is now with us at Mathmaria in Barishal. Bring him back by paying Tk6 lakh. Otherwise, his body will not be found.”

On Sunday, the criminals sent another message through the victim’s phone. This message reads: “One family member can talk to him (Emon) from 8:00pm to 11:00pm.”

Besides the police station, the victim family has already sought the help of Rapid Action Battalion-11 (RAB) and the district DB police to rescue the kidnapped victim.

When contacted, Al Mamun, officer-in-charge (OC) of Siddhirganj Police Station, told the Daily Sun that they were looking into the matter.
