A group of staff loyal to Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, a front body of BNP, at Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) allegedly assaulted its Assistant Secretary Md Jahidul Hasan on Wednesday.

According to the victim, a group of 15 staff, led by Sramik Dal Secretary Farhad Hossain Bullet, who also serves as a conservancy inspector at DNCC, along with License Supervisor Sheikh Shawkat Hossain, attacked him over a trivial matter.

“People like Farhad put undue pressure on us for the transfer of DNCC employees, from which they gain financial benefit. When officials refuse to meet their unfair demands, they treat us disrespectfully,” he said.

However, talking to the Daily Sun, Farhad denied the allegation of physically assaulting the assistant secretary but confessed to locking into a verbal argument with Jahidul.

“There is CCTV footage proving the allegation,” he said.

On Thursday, a total of 54 DNCC employees submitted a memorandum to the DNCC Chief Executive Officer, seeking justice for the assault and punishment for those are guilty.
