Bangladesh batting coach David Hemp said on Friday that Shakib Al Hasan used a strap in his neck as it helps his head position.

The left-handed batsman, who scored the highest 32 runs for the visitors, caught the attention for chewing a black strap that was coming out of his neck while batting against India in the first inning of the two-match Test series opener at Chennai.

Bangladesh batting coach David Hemp suggested that it is not totally surprising to see him wearing a strap on his neck as he was practicing with it for head position.

“He (Shakib) has been using the strap from time to time in practice which helps his head position,” Hemp told Daily Sun on Friday.
